Bugatti and The Targa Florio

Aviator and racing driver Meo Costantini at the wheel of the Bugatti Type 35 #4514 on May 3rd, 1925, with mechanic Soderini next to him. Close friend of Ettore Bugatti and head of the racing team, he brought the factory its first Targa Florio victory on May 3rd, 1925, then again in 1926.

The exhibition looks at the historic presence and victorious dominance of Bugatti racing cars from 1925 to 1929 competing in this iconic road race with a spotlight on Elisabeth Junek, the legendary ‘queen of the racing wheel’. The exhibition will include cars, photographs, archive documents, original historic film footage and artefacts.

The Bugatti Trust is a non-profit making UK registered educational Charity No 298099 with a historic working archive at its core, curated museum rooms open to the public and an active educational outreach programme. The aims and objectives of the charity are to promote the works and genius of Ettore Bugatti, to raise awareness of the importance of aesthetics and integrated design in engineering and to inspire young people to follow careers in engineering and design. The permanent historic Bugatti exhibition focuses on the genius of Ettore Bugatti which will appeal to anyone interested in cars, engineering, art, and design. The artistry and individuality are demonstrated by photographs, models, diagrams, mechanical components, complete cars and much more. The exhibits include a small example of furniture by Carlo Bugatti and animal sculptures by Rembrandt Bugatti. The Trust is normally open to the public Monday to Friday between 10 am and 4 pm with a modest admission charge (U16 free admission).
