The Bugatti Trust’s Support for Team Bath Racing continues for another year.
Updated: 16 March 2010
For the third year running the Bugatti Trust is to provide support to Team Bath Racing, the University of Bath’s Formula Student racing car team.

Team Bath

Team Bath Racing has entered both the UK and Austria events this year. The UK competition takes place from Thursday 15th to Sunday 18th July 2010 at Silverstone, the home of British motor sport. The Austrian event takes place from Wednesday 11th August to Saturday 14th August at Wachauring in Melk.

Formula Student is about building future engineering talent by designing and producing a single-seater racing car, not just in design and manufacture, but in many of the management, marketing and people skills so vital in the modern world, across all sectors of employment. It is run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and attracts over a hundred entries from all corners of the globe. To promote the event to Institution Members it now has the 2008 Bath entry in an eye catching and unusual display at its headquarters in Westminster.

Students taking part in the 2010 event will no doubt gain considerable inspiration from FS Patron Ross Brawn, whose Brawn GP team won both the drivers and constructors world titles in the 2009 Formula One season. Commenting on the competition, Ross said: “Formula Student is a fantastic career opportunity. The competition equips people with a whole range of skills they can carry with them through life. I, for one as its Patron, have been really inspired by the commitment and enthusiasm of these young people. They are the future.

Chairman of the Trust, Hugh Conway, said: “Part of our goal is to promote vehicle engineering education at the highest level. Formula Student has become a worldwide competition for undergraduate automotive engineering students, and we are pleased to be involved with one of the UK’s leading Mechanical Engineering Departments and were pleased to continue our support in 2009.”

Dr Geraint Owen, Senior Lecturer in Automotive Engineering, said: “The name Bugatti is synonymous with quality racing car design, and we are pleased that the Trust have identified Bath as a worthy partner. Like all motor sport activities, performance is partially limited by funding.

“The Bugatti Trust’s support will enable us to carry out significant further testing which should have a positive impact on our result at the event at Silverstone in July.
